Common faults we repair

SERVOSTAR and AKD amplifiers report three-digit faults, with warnings shown under an n prefix. Bus, feedback and fieldbus faults are our most common AKD repairs.

  • F401 – feedback configuration error (feedback type or parameters)
  • F451 – feedback battery fault on an absolute encoder
  • F501 – DC bus overvoltage (regeneration, braking resistor, supply)
  • F502 – DC bus undervoltage (supply dip, soft-start circuit)
  • F125 – fieldbus sync frames lost (EtherCAT or CANopen)
  • F121 – homing error (sensor or homing configuration)
  • Power stage (IGBT) failures on SERVOSTAR 600 and AKD drives
  • Encoder and resolver feedback faults – cable break, supply, contamination

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a failed Kollmorgen servo drive, motion controller or automation component can be expensive, particularly when the original equipment is obsolete or difficult to source. Repairing the existing equipment can be a faster, more cost-effective solution while avoiding unnecessary replacement, reprogramming and commissioning.

  • Repair is also the only option for obsolete and discontinued units, where a like-for-like replacement no longer exists. Where a repair is not economic, we say so and can supply a tested refurbished unit instead.
  • Component-level diagnostics and repair, never board swapping
  • Every repair covered by a 12-month warranty
  • Free fault assessment and a quote within 24 hours of arrival
  • In-house soak and load testing before your unit goes back
