Common faults we repair
PowerFlex drives report faults as F-codes on the HIM. Faults that come back straight after a reset almost always point to the power module, gate driver or bus capacitors.
- F3 – power loss (bus capacitors, precharge circuit)
- F4 – DC bus undervoltage (input fuses, rectifier, precharge)
- F5 – DC bus overvoltage (deceleration, braking resistor, bus capacitors)
- F6 – motor stalled (mechanical jam or incorrect motor data)
- F7 – motor overload trip (load, or a failing current sensor)
- F8 – heatsink over temperature (fan, airflow, thermistor)
- F12 – hardware overcurrent (IGBT failure, output short, gate driver)
- F13 – ground fault detected on the drive output
- F15 – load loss (coupling, belt or motor circuit)
- F70 – power unit failure (gate driver board or IGBT module)
Why repair rather than replace?
Replacing a failed Allen-Bradley drive, PLC, HMI or automation component can be expensive, particularly when the original equipment is obsolete or difficult to source. Repairing the existing equipment can be a faster, more cost-effective solution while avoiding unnecessary replacement, reprogramming and commissioning.
- Repair is also the only option for obsolete and discontinued units, where a like-for-like replacement no longer exists. Where a repair is not economic, we say so and can supply a tested refurbished unit instead.
