Common faults we repair

ABB labels faults by family: F-codes on the ACS550 and ACS600 drives, four-digit codes on the ACS800 and ACS880. These are the trips we repair most often.

  • F0001 – overcurrent trip (power stage, motor cable or motor insulation)
  • F0002 – DC bus overvoltage on deceleration or a failed braking chopper
  • F0003 – DC bus undervoltage (missing supply phase, rectifier failure)
  • F0005 – drive overtemperature (failed fan, blocked heatsink)
  • F0016 – earth fault in the motor or motor cable
  • F0022 – supply phase loss and DC bus ripple (rectifier bridge)
  • 2330 – earth leakage fault on ACS880 (insulation breakdown)
  • 4210 – overtemperature on ACS880 (cooling fan or airflow)
  • 7121 / 7122 – motor stall detection (jam or lost feedback)
  • 5090 – STO hardware fault (safety circuit or control board)

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a failed ABB drive or automation component can be expensive, particularly when the original model is obsolete or difficult to source. Repairing the existing equipment can be a faster, more cost-effective solution while avoiding unnecessary replacement, reprogramming and commissioning.

  • Repair is also the only option for obsolete and discontinued units, where a like-for-like replacement no longer exists. Where a repair is not economic, we say so and can supply a tested refurbished unit instead.
  • Component-level diagnostics and repair, never board swapping
