Common faults we repair

Danfoss reports faults as numbered alarms, from the VLT 2000 and 5000 series through to the FC102 and FC302. Alarms 13, 14 and 29 are the three we see most.

  • Alarm 2 – live zero error (analogue reference or feedback lost)
  • Alarm 4 – mains phase loss (supply, fuses, rectifier)
  • Alarm 7 – DC link overvoltage (deceleration, braking resistor)
  • Alarm 8 – DC link undervoltage (supply dip, soft-charge circuit)
  • Alarm 9 – inverter overloaded (I²t limit or motor data)
  • Alarm 13 – overcurrent (power stage, motor insulation, output short)
  • Alarm 14 – earth fault (motor or cable insulation)
  • Alarm 25 – brake resistor short-circuited
  • Alarm 29 – heatsink over temperature (fan, blocked airflow)
  • Alarm 38 – internal fault (control card or option card)

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a failed Danfoss drive or automation component can be expensive, particularly when the original equipment is obsolete or difficult to source. Repairing the existing equipment can be a faster, more cost-effective solution while avoiding unnecessary replacement, reprogramming and commissioning.

  • Repair is also the only option for obsolete and discontinued units, where a like-for-like replacement no longer exists. Where a repair is not economic, we say so and can supply a tested refurbished unit instead.
  • Component-level diagnostics and repair, never board swapping
  • Every repair covered by a 12-month warranty
  • Free fault assessment and a quote within 24 hours of arrival
