Common faults we repair

Eurotherm 590, 590+, 690 and 690+ DC drives report a fixed set of alarms covering the thyristor stack, field supply and feedback. These are the alarms we repair daily.

  • OVER VOLTS – armature overvoltage (supply transient, decel, field loss)
  • MISSING PULSE – thyristor firing pulse failure (stack or gate board)
  • HEATSINK TRIP – stack over temperature (fan, thermistor, overload)
  • THERMISTOR – motor or heatsink thermistor trip
  • FIELD FAIL – field current lost (field bridge or field supply)
  • FIELD OVER I – field overcurrent (shorted field or bridge fault)
  • PHASE FAIL – lost supply phase on the power board
  • OVERCURRENT – armature current trip (stack, shunt, current loop)

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a failed Eurotherm drive or controller can be expensive, particularly when the original equipment is obsolete or difficult to source. Repairing the existing equipment can be a faster, more cost-effective solution while avoiding unnecessary replacement, reprogramming and commissioning.

  • Repair is also the only option for obsolete and discontinued units, where a like-for-like replacement no longer exists. Where a repair is not economic, we say so and can supply a tested refurbished unit instead.
  • Component-level diagnostics and repair, never board swapping
